Cole swallowed hard, and his brows furrowed. “If I do this, you never tell Matt. We pretend this didn’t happen. And you stop trying to make out with varsity assholes.” 
Besides him? “Yeah okay.” 
“And promise me, no more even holding a can of beer. And beware of frat boys bearing fruit punch when you get to college. You understand me? You’re way too trusting.”
I nodded. “Deal.”
Cole shook his head and patted the carpet next to him. “It’ll be easier if you sit because you’re practically puppet sized.”
I wrinkled my nose. “I am not.”
“Uh-huh.” When I sat, he wrapped an arm around my shoulders, and I relished his warmth. “You want the guy to treat you like you’re special. Be gentle with you. Never coming on too strong, okay?”
I nodded, taking mental notes. “Got it.”
Then Cole caressed my cheek with his thumb and cupped the back of my neck under my hair as he angled my head. My heart was thundering so loud I could barely hear him when he spoke. “It’s not you, Jamie.” 
My first kiss turned molten hot in seconds as he schooled me in how to kiss. How I should expect to be touched. Everything was so gentle, so light, and I wanted more.
Blood rushing in my head and heart hammering, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I pulled back, and he frowned but let me go easily. “Are you okay, Jamie?”
At first all I could manage was a nod. But then I blurted, “Yeah, but I want you to really kiss me. I know you’re holding back.”
Cole tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. “Jamie, you don’t want—”
“Yes, I do. Or some other guy is going to teach me, and he won’t have my best interest at heart.” When it looked like he might not kiss me properly, I pushed myself into a crouch and levered myself onto his lap, facing him. “Please show me.”
“I—” Then he sighed and kissed me again, and the second time around wasn’t quite so gentle. His lips were far more urgent, his hand skimming up my tank top to run his thumbs over my ribs. The tease of his thumb over each ridge sent a shiver through my body. 
His hand clamped on my hip, and he set the tempo of the kiss and our rocking bodies.
The sensations zipping through my body weren’t just new. They were explosive and mind changing. I knew I couldn’t go back to being boring, bland me. Not when I knew it was possible to feel this way.
The tingles wrapped tightly around my spinal cord and forced my muscles to bunch. Forced my body to arch, searching for… something.
Cole kissed me deep, his hand on my hip moving me until our bodies rocked into each other again and again. But then he threw his head back against the wall and tucked me against him.
