Ben's brows lifted as his gaze turned toward me. "What the fuck did you do, Bridge?"
I shook my head. "Let's wait for the others. It’ll be better if everyone hears about this ongoing drama at once."
She just shrugged. "Oh, I didn't start the drama. It's all you."
When East finally joined us, I looked behind him to see if Drew would follow. "Drew coming?"
East shook his head. "No, he already left a couple of hours ago. Didn't know we would have an impromptu meeting. Who did you shag this time?"
I sighed and grumbled, "Fuck off."
East grinned at Emma. "Hey, Little Tobes, what are you doing here?"
"Oh, you don't know either?” She slid me a wide grin. “This is going to be entertaining."
I scowled at her. Why the fuck was she having so much fun with this? I was clearly not having fun. I was uncomfortable. She had me by the balls, and she wasn't even playing with them. It was really disappointing to say the least.
When everyone was settled, Ben slid his gaze to me. "Are we going to need to drink for this?"
"You two won't, but I probably will."
Emma smiled. "I'll have to take a sparkling water if you have it." She turned her gaze to me then. "Sweetheart, will you get it for me?"
I ground my teeth. She was having fun. My life was in shambles, and she was having a goddamn good time.
East chuckled. "Sweetheart? If that didn't sound like she was plotting your demise, I don't know what would."
Emma laughed. "Oh what, Bridge didn't tell you? We're in love now. He loves me. He looooves me," she said with an exaggerated flutter of her lashes.
She drew out the word love. She was teasing me. I didn't feel like being teased. I wished she would just fucking get on with it. And when she didn't continue, I said it. "I went to see Fredericka today."
Ben pushed to his feet. "You did what?"
I waved him back down. "Relax. I wanted to apologize and let her know that what was being said in the news wasn't at all who I was or what I was about. The problem is, either I got played by her, or she really just isn't budging. So I improvised."
East crossed his arms, chuckling. "Oh, God. You? Improvising? I remember who you used to be. What game did you play this time?"
Fuck him.
I cleared my throat. "No game. I just followed through on what Brenda said."
Ben laughed. "Wait. You said you were getting married?"
When I didn't respond, there was a deafening pause that hung in the air, and then East howled with laughter. "Oh my God. Oh my God. You told her you're getting married to Emma?"
